“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.”

It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us

Embarking on a career in hospitality has indeed been an exhilarating journey for me, one that, despite its mix of highs and lows, I wouldn’t exchange for anything. This path has opened doors to remarkable professional opportunities and has significantly enriched my personal life, making my career a thrilling adventure for both myself and my family.

However, let’s be honest, this journey hasn’t always been straightforward. The dynamic nature of the hospitality industry brings its own unique challenges. Tough career decisions are a given, along with the necessity for ongoing professional and personal development. And for many, striking a healthy work-life balance can be quite challenging.

Throughout my career, there have certainly been moments that have contributed to my “growing collection of grey hair.” From making the leap to take my career international, to evolving as a leader, making development choices, facing difficult crossroads, and even juggling family life while on the move – each has left its mark.

Reflecting on my 25 years in this field, it becomes clear that one of the most significant factors for me has been the senior leaders and mentors I’ve encountered. Their patience, wisdom, and knowledge, and yes, sometimes even their unsolicited advice, have profoundly influenced who I am and where I stand today. I am immensely grateful for their guidance.

It was this personal experience of benefiting from such mentorship that inspired me to create a hospitality community. A community where more professionals could seek similar support, connecting those without access to such wisdom with those who have a wealth of experience to share. There’s an untapped reservoir of knowledge among seasoned hospitality professionals, and a strong demand from new industry entrants eager to learn from it.

Welcome

Welcome to this newly launched and vibrant community, where the sole ambition is to connect retired, seasoned hospitality professionals, with young, aspiring hospitality leaders embarking on their career journeys.

We recognize the immense value of the untapped knowledge, wisdom and expertise that retired professionals possess. Their years of service have equipped them with invaluable insights and skills that are a treasure trove for the new generation. By bridging this gap, we aim to ensure that this profound wisdom is not lost but instead passed on to energize and guide the future leaders of hospitality.
